Bent Viscaal (born 18 September 1999 in Albergen, Overijssel, the Netherlands) is a Dutch racing driver who competes in the 2021 FIA Formula 2 Championship with Trident.[1] A race winner in the FIA Formula 3 Championship, Viscaal was signed by Trident ahead of the 2021 season to partner Marino Sato for the season.[1]

Background[]

Viscaal began his career in karting, competing in his native Netherlands and later across Europe until he moved into single-seater racing in 2017.[2] Entering the Spanish and SMP F4 Championships that season, Viscaal would go on to claim the runner-up spot in the latter, while finishing third in the latter with eight wins across both.[2] For 2018 Viscaal secured a drive in the Euroformula Open series, although the Dutchman was powerless to prevent Felipe Drugovich storming to the title as he instead secured a distant second.[2]

F3 Foundations: 2019 - 2020[]

For 2019 Viscaal moved into the reformed FIA Formula 3 Championship, with HWA Racelab signing the Dutchman to their squad for the inaugural season.[2] A mid-table finish would result as Viscaal only claimed one points finish, prompting him to switch to MP Motorsport for the 2020 season.[2] Armed with a stronger car Viscaal's results improved, with the Dutchman collecting a maiden victory as well as a podium finish as he improved to thirteenth in the championship.[2]

Formula 2 History[]

Viscaal got his first chance to drive an FIA Formula 2 Championship car at the end of the 2020 season, when Trident invited him to complete the final day of the 2020 Bahrain Post-Season Test.[3] After recording the eighteenth fastest time on that day, Viscaal would secure a seat with Trident for the 2021 season, with the Dutchman partnering Marino Sato for his rookie F2 campaign.[1]
