Gianmarco Raimondo (born 28 November 1990 in St. Catharines, Ontario, Canada) is a Canadian former racing driver, who competed in four races of the 2013 FIA GP2 Series with Trident Racing.[1] A race winner in various Formula 3 series before his GP2 debut, Raimondo would only have a cameo appearance in GP2, before his racing career petered out.[2]
Raimondo was signed by Trident at the tail end of the 2013 season, taking over the #21 car from Sergio Campana at the penultimate round.[1] Unfortunately for Raimondo he would not have the best cameo, failing to threaten the points as he claimed thirtieth in the championship.[2]
Raimondo was overlooked for a seat in GP2 for 2014, and would ultimately spend the season out of any cockpit.[2] He returned to racing in 2015 with a handful of appearances in the Pirelli World Challenge, before making his last race start in the Porsche GT3 Cup Challenge Canada in 2017.[2]
Background[]
Raimondo began his career karting in his native Canada, competing in various series until the winter of 2007, when he joined the Skip Barber Southern Regional Series.[2] After finishing twentieth in the Regional Series, Raimondo competed in the Formula BMW Americas series, finishing third with two wins.[2] Remaining in the Americas series in 2009, Raimondo would again finish third, while also making his debut in Formula 3 in the Italian series.[2]
European-Vision: 2010-2012[]
For 2010 Raimondo moved over to Europe for the full season, taking a seat in the Italian F3 Championship for the campaign.[2] Finishing sixteenth, Raimondo had enough funds to secure a seat in the Formula 3 Euro Series for 2011, with the Canadian racer claiming eleventh in the championship with one podium.[2] For 2012 Raimondo moved over to the European F3 Open, with a strong campaign seeing the Canadian racer finish second with four wins.[2]

Post GP2 Series Career[]
After being overlooked for a GP2 seat for 2014, Raimondo sat the year out, before securing a couple of one-off drives with Maserati in the Maserati Trofeo and Pirelli World Challenge in 2015.[2] He sat out the 2016 before getting the chance to compete in two rounds of the Porsche GT3 Cup Challenge Canada in 2017, claiming one win and two podiums.[2]
